A New Biosciences Job Board for Southern California

It's an exciting day for the team at NimbleCat and our new partners at SoCalBio. Yesterday we announced that we're providing a unique job board specifically targeted at high-value biosciences candidates in partnership with SoCalBio. SoCalBio is the Southern California Biomedical Council. It has gained a reputation for being one of the most active industry groups in the biosciences in Southern California.

SoCalBio CEO Ahmed Enany and I are excited at the potential of this job board to create a local pool of bioscience candidates that local employers can tap into. A key capability that will enable us to do this is NimbleCat's patented classification engine. This classification engine can identify high value candidates in several key bioscience specialties ranging from clinical researchers to biostatisticians. This combined with our unique ability to rank candidates on leadership and management means we can identify high value candidates in the biosciences with greater than 90% accuracy.

What's really important about this job board is that it addresses a major need in the region. A study that SoCalBio did some time back revealed that bioscience companies are hiring some 40% of their employees from outside the region. Finding leaders

Finding leaders is neither easy or cheap but it is essential. The right VP of Sales can catapult your company to the next level... or not. It all depends on who you hire to do the job. As we all know (perhaps too well) this is not easy. You need to find suitable candidates, vet them, bring them in to meet the team, make sure they  fit with your company culture and then hope that they take your offer, not someone else's.

It all starts with finding the right candidates. The conventional wisdom has been that this is a task for people, not machines. That's why executive recruiters command the 25-40% fees that they do. And, so far, they have not been challenged by technology.  No one so far has claimed a leadership metric that can differentiate leaders from individual contributors.

That's about to change. NimbleCat (a company I work at)  has devised a leadership metric based on a computational linguistics analysis of over 2.7 million resumes. First results are tantalizing, to say the least. We're intrigued with the possibility that we can make the executive Rolodex obsolete.
